The Ukrainian Artists and Allies League is an international collective based in New York with a mission to give visibility to contemporary cultural and intellectual life from Ukraine. It works across networks, institutions, and diasporas to facilitate, promote, and develop public programming that connects Ukrainian cultural actors with broader audiences.
UAAL came together spontaneously in the wake of russia’s most recent invasion of Ukraine, and within the first weeks of its existence, became a self-organized and purpose-driven group of artists, cultural workers, and supporters. It acted quickly to raise over 300K in art sales for Ukrainian cultural institutions and non-profits, launched a platform to help facilitate direct aid to Ukrainian artists in need and has put together several public discussions about Ukraine by Ukrainians.
