Andrea Wenglowskyj is a visual artist and commercial photographer based in Buffalo, NY, by way of: Rochester, NY; New Paltz, NY; Paris, France; Boston, MA; Kyiv, Ukraine; and Brooklyn, NY. She earned her Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Tufts University, and her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Her photography has been exhibited internationally and, as a Fulbright Fellow, she researched the contemporary art scene in Ukraine. She has taught at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The International Center of Photography, and through numerous art institutions including Chashama, Brooklyn Museum, The New School, and Montserrat College. In 2012, Andrea co-founded DELVE, an educational and community-building platform for artists and creatives. She worked for Storefront for Art & Architecture and as an art liaison for UBS Wealth Management. She is Board Secretary for Buffalo is Creative, a new non profit.
Katrina Majkut is a Ukrainian-American visual artist and writer dedicated to understanding how social traditions impact civil rights. Employing observational painting techniques, Majkut blends the art of painting with the gridded medium of cross-stitch embroidery. She is interested in challenging embroidery’s historical social and gender bias and creating more equitable systems within cultural traditions. Majkut exhibits nationally in both commercial and college galleries, where she lectures on gender issues, art activism, and textile arts. She was listed as one of four international artists starting a new chapter in feminist art by Mic Media and listed as a must-see artist by Hyperallergic magazine. The artist lives and works in New York.
Christina Saj is a contemporary artist whose abstract paintings reveal a fascination with vivid color and rich pattern. Her distinctly recognizable style calls on modernist roots, and an interest in materials. Unlike a lot of modern art, Saj’s work hails beauty to build her vocabulary. She is an iconographer of the future. Her colorful and playful paintings beckon the inner child while remaining in conversation with the Old world traditions in which her work is steeped. The work offers the viewer a place of respite and visual joy. Her images allude to the tradition of sacred paintings, informed by her early training and work with Byzantine Iconographer, Petro Kholodny, the Younger, exposing her to ancient methods of painting in egg tempera. Saj holds a BA in Painting from Sarah Lawrence, an MFA from Bard College and studied Byzantine Art History at Oxford University.
Saj continues adapting and innovating her techniques to engage modern audiences in new ways with use of unusual materials which expand her reach as a painter. Her work has been widely exhibited, including such venues as the Museum of Biblical Art, The National Cathedral, The Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC, Union Theological Seminary, The Ukrainian Museum in New York, The Museum of Cultural Heritage (Kiev, Ukraine), The National Museum in Lviv (Ukraine), the American Embassy in Qatar, as well as at the White House. Her works reside in private and museum collections in the US and abroad. She maintains an active studio in New Jersey where she welcomes commissions.
Luba Drozd is an installation artist working with site specific sound, 3D animation, and sculpture. Her works are composed with vibrations that form sonic spaces alongside sculptural projections. The installations re-orient architecture through repetition and offset of materials, sound, and parallax, gesturing to how intangible spaces within us such as memory, knowledge, and perception are controlled and regimented.
She is the recipient of the MacDowell Colony Fellowship, Yaddo Residency, Millay Colony Residency, grants from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts and Eastern State Historic Site, with works exhibited at the Knockdown Center, Bronx Museum among many others. She received a BFA from Pratt Institute and an MFA from Bard College.
